Modernity Collection

We often hear about culture shock when traveling to foreign lands. But those of us from the West know of a different and perhaps more jarring culture shock: that of returning home to our hyper-modern lifestyles. After having spent time with cultures whose way of life is slower and more aligned with the rhythms of nature, we often have a hard time adjusting back home. Our Modernity collection visually plays with this idea, placing images of indigenous peoples in modern environments and leaving the viewer to wrestle with the discomfort of the juxtaposition. So many questions arise, like those from the famous Gauguin painting: "Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?"
